FOSSILS FROM KENTUCKY, INDIANA & SURROUNDING STATES OF USA

This area of the web site is dedicated to showing fossils found of the local geographic area that surrounds the area where most KYANA members live and collect. We are fortunate to have an area that allows us to collect from four major geological periods. In general, this area was covered by a shallow tropical sea that allowed marine invertebrate creatures to thrive. As a result, this area has a wide variety of fossilized creatures for our members to collect and study. Some of these creatures include brachiopods, crinoids, sponges, corals, bryozoans, cephalopods, trilobites, blastoids, snails, fishes and many others.

Remember this site is created by amateur paleontologists so mistakes or misclassifications can occur.
